About Us

Welcome to The Mastermind Within! My name is Erik and I’m passionate about learning, becoming wealthy and healthy, and helping others grow to their full potential!

I started this blog because I want to stay accountable in my learning, finances, and life. I want to share my life and connect with other like-minded individuals.

When I was 17, I realized I should start working to become better. I’ve always been naturally talented at various things: school, sports, and games, but I was never the best. I also was very quiet and not a great conversationalist. As a senior in high school, I started to expose myself to different subjects and topics.

Once I got to college, I started to grow as I continued to learn more about myself and others, my life, my surrounding. It’s a true statement, you grow through experiences.

Throughout college, I became interested in personal finance and financial freedom. I read articles, on sites such as Financial Samurai, and became excited at the prospect of becoming wealthy at a young age.

Once I got out of college and was employed in the workforce, I became obsessed with learning about different wealth building strategies. I bought a house and have house hacked for 2 years, I’ve kept my savings rate around 50%, and I’ve increased my income to nearly $100,000 a year, and I’m just 25 years old!

That’s where The Mastermind Within comes in. What’s success and achievement if you can’t share it with others and help them on their path to financial success?

The Mastermind Within covers personal finance, self improvement, and entrepreneurship. Here’s what you canexpect here on The Mastermind Within: articles and tools to help you with personal finance and getting you on the path to financial freedom, articles on the books I’ve read, and different tips and tactics for building wealth through saving, investing, and/or building a business.

The Mastermind Within Mission Statement:

The Mastermind Within hopes to build a collaborative community where ideas can flow openly, and readers can build knowledge and experience amazing personal growth.

At the end of the day, I want to help you become the best version of you. Life is a journey, and want to join you in your journey of success.

Here’s some more information on me:

  • Born in 1992
  • Went to college at the University of Minnesota and has a Bachelor’s in Math and a Master’s in Financial Math
  • Currently works at a large regional bank doing statistical analysis on commercial loans to help the bank comply with the Dodd-Frank act
  • Owns a house and rents out 2 rooms to other people
    • Is looking to purchase more properties in the future
  • Enjoys reading, playing golf, softball, basketball, card and board games

For me, once I became self-aware of our limitations and wanted to grow as much as possible, I started to tap into my potential. Reading articles online, talking to professionals, getting out of my comfort zone were all things that were beneficial. I want to keep growing and share these habits and tips with others so that they can be successful in their future.
