Blog Traffic and Income Report – February 2017

Henry Entrepreneurship, Thoughts of a Mastermind 9 Comments

Welcome to the second monthly Blog Traffic and Income Report for The Mastermind Within! Each month, we will be posting our blog statistics to give readers an understanding of the nuts and bolts of what Erik and Henry are doing and achieving here at The Mastermind Within.

This post will take the following form: first, a recap of the various posts written by Erik and Henry throughout the month. Second, the traffic and income statistics which are gathered from Google Analytics and the various affiliate and ad networks The Mastermind Within takes part in. Third, we will discuss what changes or strategies we have for the next month, March 2017, to try to boost traffic. As always, any and all feedback is gladly welcomed. I know that I don’t know everything about blogging. (not even close)

February 2017 Blog Statistics

In February 2017, we had 2,989 page views and we made $2.35!! Big money!! (You think we can retire off this? Joking!) This was an increase of 83% in viewership month over month.

February 2017 Google Analytics  Summary

As you can see above, we had some good days, and some not so good days in February. An 83% growth in viewership is very promising.

February 2017 Income Report

blog income and traffic report

In the Income Report, you can see the breakdown of revenue for the month of February: we have affiliates links throughout the site from Bluehost, Amazon, and Xtheme. In addition, we utilize Google AdSense. As the page views increase, hopefully these numbers will increase. Time will tell; this is a fun experiment!

While we haven’t gotten any fees from Amazon, we did get a few orders at the end of the month. People seemed very interested in the book, Stealing the Corner Office – a book containing tips and strategies to help you climb the corporate ladder!

We started a Twitter account in February. Give us a follow if you want to receive Twitter updates from The Mastermind Within:

Finally, there are talks internally about an eBook or product to increase the number of subscribers and possibly open doors for passive income. As you can see above, 15 subscribers and 4625 views in 2 months is far from optimal.

Action Steps for March

We have been doing well for 2 months of blogging. For the most part, I’m excited about the possibilities and opportunities for this blog. To increase traffic in the second month, we tried to drive traffic through different social media sites. So far, Twitter and StumbleUpon have been the two sites we have been using. StumbleUpon has loved our book reviews. I’ve heard that Pinterest is a big driver of traffic; I want to explore it in March.

Also, we spent a fair amount of time commenting on other people’s blogs. We do this for two reasons: one, it is part of our mission statement. We want to build a community where knowledge can accumulate and ideas can prosper.

The Mastermind Within Mission Statement:

The Mastermind Within hopes to build a collaborative community where ideas can flow openly, and readers can build knowledge and experience amazing personal growth.

The second reason is it is a fairly decent method to get traction in the blogosphere. By commenting on the following sites, we were able to get a majority of our page views:

In the coming months, we want to explore with coming up with a better layout for the site, think about a product to sell, continue to be consistent with our posting, look into SEO, and continue to grow each and every day! 🙂

What do you think is 5,000 views and $10 possible for March?!?

How did February go for your blog or website? What tips or tricks could you share with us to improve our blog?

  1. Great progress on the viewership. I know that when you first started, it’s very difficult to build your reputation and get people to subscribe. If you guys maintain this pace, 5k views is definitely within your reach. I haven’t started to tweet yet and would love to know how your experiment goes.

    1. It’s definitely been an interesting 2 months. Twitter seems to be a mess – only a few views have come from Twitter. Time will tell if it’s actually worth it.

Thanks for the comment Leo and thanks for your support. 5k is in reach 🙂

  2. Very intresting. Great breakdown and puts it in reality. Almost 3000 pageviews and only 2 bucks in adsense.. wah I’ve been trying to get more views but I thought adsense paid more then that. That sucks lol. I think you guys can hit your goal, views should only be going up if u get more subs and viewers per month. One critique that I notice already tho is all the popups on my phone. The share thing on the side and the sign up at the top take up almost 1/4 my screen. It can be annoying closing them everytime I go to a new page. =) just trying to help not trying to be a dick. Keep it up. I definally enjoy these stats pages.

    1. Hey, thank you for the feedback. We are working on tweaking these each and every day…

I agree, Google AdSense is a struggle, but with clicks, you can make decent money with it. The problem is we have the ads at none-optimal spots on the site (for user experience)… at the bottom and only 1 on the side.

    1. Graham, thanks for stopping by. 250 blog posts is a lot but we are getting it done! Setting goals and reviewing them monthly has been great. Have a good one!

  3. Inspiring post! I love the transparency on blogs… it’s how we keep each other motivated and inspired. You all are doing great work!

I’m also trying to double my blog income by May 1st. Right now most of my income comes from freelance writing, which has its ups and downs. It’s decent money, but the con is that you have to search out clients. However, I’ve gotten really lucky and built a relationship with one of my first clients, so they come back to me almost weekly with project proposals. My advice to you, if you’re trying to make extra money soon, is to freelance and try to find a client with recurring work. It’ll make your life so much easier!

Looking forward to see what more you all do!

    – Leah

    1. Hey Leah, glad you enjoyed our post and looking forward to continuing on this journey!

That is some great advice – I’ll check out your site and see what further recommendations you have to keep the ball moving!

Thanks for stopping by Leah, hopefully April is a great month for us!
