Welcome to the seventh monthly Blog Traffic and Income Report for The Mastermind Within! For new readers, each month, I post the traffic statistics and income The Mastermind Within blog has earned and comment on any changes, improvements, and disappointments. I want to be as transparent as possible, because true improvement can happen only when you get the raw details of a situation.
This post will take the following form: first, a recap of the various posts written throughout the month. Second, the traffic and income statistics which are gathered from Google Analytics and the various affiliate and ad networks The Mastermind Within takes part in. Third, I will discuss what changes or strategies I have for the next month, August 2017, to try to grow traffic and make money. As always, any and all feedback is gladly welcomed. I know that I don’t know everything about blogging. (not even close)

July 2017 Post Summary
In July, I posted 9 times. As mentioned in our goals post, I want to post 250 times in 2017. In the first 6 months, there were posted 105 posts. With 9 posts in July, that makes 114 for the year. I don’t think 250 is a reasonable goal given all the things going on in life, especially since I thought I’d have help with the goal.
I had a few posts on the general blog topics: the June Traffic Report, and my goals update for June.
I had 6 posts in July. Here is a list of the non-book review posts I wrote in July:
- My Goal to Read 75 Books – June 2017 Check-in
- Erik’s Income Statement and Balance Sheet – 1st Half 2017
- Influencing Generation Z to Leverage the Internet and Capitalize on Technological Progress
- 6 Improvements from Reading 29 Books in 6 Months
- My Personal Development Bucket List – Lots of Ideas, Little Time
- How House Hacking Gets You on the Fast Track to Financial Freedom
I posted 1 book review in July. I actually finished 3 more, but haven’t gotten around to the book reviews.

Guest Appearances
There were no guest appearances for The Mastermind Within blog.
In August, I have a few guest posts on the horizon that I working on.
Next… on to the numbers!
July 2017 Blog Statistics
In July 2017, the blog had 3,126 page views and we made $9.99!! Big money!! (You think I can retire off this? Joking!) This represents a increase of 29% in viewership month over month.
July 2017 Google Analytics Summary
July was up from June in terms of traffic. Traffic increased 29% on a month over month basis. I had an increase in the number of users month over month by 27% and the bounce rate and pages per session had positive changes month over month.
July 2017 Traffic and Income Report
In the Income Report, you can see the breakdown of revenue for the month of June: I have affiliates links throughout the site from Bluehost, Amazon, MyFinance, SoFi, and Xtheme. In addition, I utilize Google AdSense. As the page views increase, these numbers should increase. Time will tell; this is a fun experiment!
I am very excited the number of email subscribers following The Mastermind Within has continued to increase!
THANK YOU READERS AND SUBSCRIBERS 🙂 In May, The FREE Personal Finance Income Statement was a big contributor to our increase in total subscribers, and it has continued in June and July.
One positive thing is we saw an uptick in search engine traffic. Over 30% of the traffic was from search engines, which is a good sign! Real estate on Google is extremely valuable! 🙂
Overall, the blog is doing fairly well! As you can see above, 190 subscribers and 20,381 views in 7 months is pretty good, but far from great (especially if I want to take this a solid income stream) By staying consistent, the train will keep humming!

Action Steps for August
Consistency is the key to blogging. July was a busy month. I only produced 1 book review in July while finishing 4 books. August will be another busy month, but I’m excited to get through more books as my lady friend also loves reading – it’s fun to compare our notes on certain books we’ve read 🙂 In addition to more book reviews, I’m looking forward to continuing to provide value to you, my reader. Please let me know if there is anything you’d like me to write about.
Also, we spent a fair amount of time commenting on other people’s blogs. We do this for two reasons: one, it is part of our mission statement. We want to build a community where knowledge can accumulate and ideas can prosper.
The Mastermind Within Mission Statement:
The Mastermind Within hopes to build a collaborative community where ideas can flow openly, and readers can build knowledge and experience amazing personal growth.
The second reason is it is a fairly decent method to get traction in the blogosphere. By commenting on the following sites, we were able to get a majority of our page views:
In the coming months, I will keep providing value through posts and products, continue to be consistent with my posting, and continue to grow each and every day! 🙂
How did July go for your blog or website? What tips or tricks could you share with me to improve The Mastermind Within?

Thanks Mrs. AR! Best of luck to you too in August!
Dang! 3000+ views in one month? You’re killing it! I think it took me over a year to get to that point! Keep up the great work!

Thanks Gwen for the comment 🙂 Things are going well – consistency is key!
Nice work!!
I had very similar numbers to your blog and I want to focus on creating more content. I only publish once a week right now. I have a few ideas on how to create more content that should be going live soon!

In my “Personal Development Bucket List” post, I dropped a paragraph on the lucky lady 😉 She’s great but it’s still early!

Nicely done! Looks like July was a great month!
I am also focusing on consistency in August. I need to spend more time just creating content and getting it out there.

Thanks Matt. I agree with you… sticking to a MWF schedule would be good for me, but some weekends I’m busy or some week days I’m busy. It’s a struggle!
I’ve definitely noticed an ebb and flow of posting.. I’ll do 3-4 posts one week, and then 1 the next – probably not optimal for developing a following! (Maybe you could do a post on that… but that might be a post for “Optimizeyourblog.co!”
Congrats on the uptick in pageviews! That’s awesome, Erik. I like how you keep reviewing books. Let’s me know what I should be reading!
PS: I featured you in my post today. Love it you checked it out.

Thanks Dave! I loved your post – nice roundup!
Thanks for posting these updates. It really does take a ton of time to grow a blog. I use to always kind of rolled my eyes when I heard people talking about blogging being a full time job. I totally get it now.
I would love to spend more time on mine but this pesky job that is currently paying the bills keeps getting the way.
Keep it up man, I always look forward to reading your stuff.

You are welcome Grant. I really enjoy it, but it’s tough at the same time. I’m having more fun now that I’ve actually developed relationships with different bloggers. It’s a lot more fun this way when you have connections with people in the industry!
Congrats on the continued growth! Looking forward to the book revieee next month.

Thanks Michael
Great job with your blog performance. It is helpful to see as I am just two months in. While it’s only $10 for the month, better than $0. You gotta start somewhere.

Thanks Turning Point Money for stopping by. If I can get $10 a month, and grow it to $100, I’ll be thrilled!! 🙂
