It’s December and we are in the midst of the holiday season. Depending on where you are in the world, the leaves have changed from green to brown to on the ground, and a white and fluffy substance called snow has powdered the Earth.
Retailers are busy marketing, shipping, and selling their products. Consumers are busy buying, consuming, and wrapping gifts for their friends and families. The holiday season brings joy to many people, with Christmas music played throughout the malls and a jolly cheer from bell ringers and carolers.
As I reflected on my time at FinCon 2017, I thought about how I could be unique, but also provide immense value to my readers. I threw around the idea of creating a course, creating another free spreadsheet or application, or creating content in a specific niche. I’ve been posting consistently in the 3 areas of self-improvement, entrepreneurship, and personal finance, but wanted to do a deep dive into one of them.
With the holiday season just around the corner, I thought it would be fantastic to give the gift of personal finance – with a series inspired by The 12 Days of Christmas: The 12 Days of Personal Finance.
The 12 Days of Personal Finance
Many bloggers and creators do a series of posts all surrounding on one specific topic or subject. I see posts and guides such as “5 Steps and 21 Days: Cleanse Yourself to Lose 15 Pounds and Get the Body You Always Wanted” or “9 Steps to Getting Your Dream Job and Making Thousands of Dollars” around the internet. I want to create something similar to these, but make it better. No more being mediocre – it’s time to shine!
I thought, a 12 day series where I present highly informative posts on personal finance, amazing resources, tips and strategies to help improve your financial situation, and fun anecdotes along the way, would be great for The Mastermind Within readers.
BUT, this 12 day series would not just be me rambling on about the inner workings of savings rates, 401(k)s, or the best investment vehicle to avoid the IRS (okay, that’s a decent idea for a post, but it might be a little too far down the rabbit hole for me).
In The 12 Days of Personal Finance, I’ve asked my readers to help contribute, so I can get a fuller view of personal finance picture. I’m just 1 person, and I only have 1 perspective on the world. I have 24 hours in a day, and I’m not able to consume, use, try and think about all of the blogs, tips, tricks, and strategies that people are actually using in their daily lives.
By involving my readers, this will add to the message, and add to the community of like-minded individuals here with The Mastermind Within.

My Expectations for the 12 Days of Personal Finance
Whenever I set out to do something creative, I always have some anxiety and nervousness in the back of my mind. How will be it received, will it have an impact on the lives of others, and will I enjoy the process?
How I motivate myself and calm my nerves is by telling myself the following: when you are in a mindset of giving and selflessness, you CAN and WILL produce something remarkable and amazing.
I want to help people. My purpose in life and what I enjoy doing, is creating things, building things, and helping others with my time and thoughts. If the 12 Days of Personal Finance helps at least 1 person, I will have done my job. If the 12 Days of Personal Finance reaches thousands of people, then that is great as well.
While writing these 12 posts, I’m constantly reminding myself of my purpose and end goal: helping people. With this in mind, I don’t have external expectations for the 12 Days of Personal Finance. Internally, I’m here to create something valuable for my readers, and I’m fully confident in my abilities to do so.
